The Ages of the Harry Potter Characters
Qiana, being the amazing person she is [one with too much time on her hands, obviously! But we certainly aren't complaining.] has worked out from the various ages of the characters at any certain point of time.
The age of anyone in red is simply an opinon, rather than a fact. It is guesswork based on ages of family or other canon relations, and is therefore not canon.
We've split the characters up into two groups; the adults and the next generation. It would have been called 'The Children', but Tonks, Bill, Charlie and Percy aren't exactly children. Instead it's classified as The MWPP generation and the generation after it.
Just a run down on the theory: This timeline has been worked out using the basis that, in 1992, it was Harry's second year. Nearly Headless Nick has his 500th Deathday Anniversary that year, and on the cake, his death is dated as 1492. Therefore, Harry was born in 1980.
In order for James and Lily to be old enough to have Harry, they had to have been born circa 1960. This was also confirmed when JK stated in her 2001 Comic Relief Interview that Snape was '35 or 6'. Snape was in the same Year as the MWPP quartet, and we assume Lily was also in that year.
JK has stated that Bill is two years older than Charlie, who is in turn three years older than Percy. As Percy finished Hogwarts at the end of Harry's 3rd year, he is 19 in Order of the Phoenix, which makes Charlie 22 and Bill 24.
Oliver and Fleur were determined by their graduating dates and the Triwizard Tournament.
